AEIS Eligibility Criteria
AEIS, or Admission Exercise for International Students, is a national exam conducted by the Ministry of Education, Singapore.
If your child is an international student looking to gain admission to a mainstream MOE primary or secondary school, passing the AEIS is the best way to go.
In this article, we'll be taking a closer look at the eligibility requirements, as well as test formats to best prepare your child for the challenges ahead.
Who's eligible?
If your child is seeking admission to a mainstream MOE primary (P2 to 5) or secondary school (S1 to 3) in the following academic year, they're eligible for the Admission Exercise International Student (AEIS).
However, do note that your child should:
- Sit for tests suitable for their age
- Be of the required age as of 1 January of the year of admission
AEIS Primary school requirements
The AEIS primary school assessment consists of two categories. The first category is for Primary 2 and Primary 3, while the second is for Primary 4 and Primary 5. The age requirement for each category is as follows:

| 11 to 11+ | P5 Maths | P4 Maths | 140 and above | Pri 5, Pri 4, or unsuccessful |

AEIS Secondary school requirements
The AEIS secondary school assessment is split into three categories: secondary 1, secondary 2, and secondary 3. The age requirement for each category is as follows:
