AEIS 2024 Registration

*Updated on 2 July 2024

The Admissions Exercise for International Students (AEIS) is a critical process for non-Singaporean children who wish to join Singapore's mainstream primary and secondary schools. To help you navigate this process, we have compiled a comprehensive guide covering everything from application periods to necessary documentation and post-registration steps.

When to apply for AEIS?

Before diving into the application process, it's essential to know when to apply. Check out important AEIS dates by clicking on this link.

It's important to note that applications can close early if all slots for the admissions tests are filled. So, applying as early as possible within the designated periods is advisable to secure a spot.

How to Apply for AEIS

Follow these steps to ensure a smooth application process for AEIS.

Step 1: Create an individual account in the Candidates Portal (CP)

  • During the application period, you need to create an individual account in the CP.  This portal is tailored for international students to track their registration status and access AEIS exam-related documents. To set up the account, you'll need to provide the following information:
    • Your child's details, including passport number and FIN number.
    • A valid email address.
    • Contact numbers for both yourself and your next of kin.
  • After successfully creating your account, check your registered email for a message containing your account name and login instructions. Please note that the provided username is unique to each account and cannot be modified.
  • Following that, you'll be prompted to create your password. Once you've completed this step, your account will be successfully created.
Do note:
Completing the registration on the CP doesn't assure a spot in the 2024 AEIS exam. The details provided will be used when registering for the exam, so avoid making any alterations to the account. Each child is allowed only one account; creating multiple accounts will disqualify your child from the exam.

Step 2: Apply for AEIS during the registration period

  • Once your CP account is successfully created, you can proceed to apply for AEIS within the registration period.

Step 3: Upload the required documents in the CP

  • Birth Certificate: Submit the applicant's birth certificate. If the certificate is in a language other than English, an accurate English translation must be provided.
  • Passport: Upload a copy of the applicant's passport, which should have at least six months of validity remaining.
  • Statement of Results: Provide the applicant's statement of results for the relevant Cambridge English Qualifications (CEQ) test taken within 12 months before the month of submission of their AEIS-Primary online application. There's no need to submit the actual Cambridge English certificate. To know more about the CEQ exams, refer to this article on CEQ's role in AEIS admission: What parents need to know
  • Passport Size Photo: Upload a recent passport-sized photo of the applicant.

Step 4: Pay registration fees

You have the option to pay for AEIS fees using credit/debit cards or PayNow. Please note that these fees are non-refundable. The application fee for AEIS Primary is \($340\), and for AEIS Secondary, it is \($630\). GST will be applied to these fees.

Step 5: Check application status and test details

  • Regularly log in to the CP to check the status of your application and any updates regarding test details.

After registration in CP

Once you have completed the registration in CP, your application will go through several stages.

  1. Pending Status

    • Upon successful submission, your application status will initially be reflected as "Pending" in the CP.
  2. Approval process

    • It takes at least four weeks from the day of application for the status to be updated to "Registered," provided the document submission is complete and the applicant is deemed eligible for the tests. Incomplete submissions can result in longer processing times.
  3. Regular updates

    • Check the CP regularly for updates on your application status. Pay attention to the Remarks column for any specific notes or instructions.
  4. Retrieving entry proof

    • If your application is approved, you will receive an email notification to retrieve the entry proof for the applicant from the CP.
  5. Ineligibility notification

    • If your application is rejected, the status will be reflected as "ineligible" in the CP.

Enquiries and assistance

All communications regarding your application will be conducted via email, so it's crucial to regularly check the email account you registered in the CP. For technical assistance, use the online form in CP under Non-national exams. For other matters, you can contact the AEIS support team at SEAB_AEIS_S-AEIS@seab.gov.sg.
