CEQ's role in AEIS admissions: What parents need to know

CEQ's role in AEIS admissions: What parents need to know

Cambridge English Qualifications (CEQ) are widely respected credentials and demonstrate excellence in the English language. With CEQ, educational institutions have proof of a student’s ability to understand the English language and communicate effectively, which is essential if they want to take AEIS. It proves that a student has reached a benchmark for their English skills, and therefore is suitable for admission on courses like AEIS.

Why is CEQ important - if your child is planning to take the AEIS?

To secure admission for your child to a primary school, your child should follow these steps:

  • Your child needs to participate in the Cambridge English Qualifications (CEQ) test conducted by Cambridge Assessment English (CAE). This test can be either paper-based or computer-based.
  • Make sure your child takes the CEQ test within the 12 months leading up to the month when you plan to submit their S-AEIS application. For example, if you intend to submit the application in January 2024, your child must have taken the CEQ test between January 2023 and January 2024.
  • Your child should achieve scores that meet or surpass the required standards in the CEQ test before applying for the S-AEIS Primary Mathematics test suitable for their age group.

These steps are crucial for your child's admission process to a public school.

CEQ tests your child should sit for - based on their age

The ages listed below are based on January 1st. So, if your child is 9 years old on January 1st, they will be considered 9, no matter when their birthday is.
