Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What are Secondary school cut-off points in Singapore?

Secondary school cut-off points refer to the minimum score required for admission into a particular secondary school in Singapore. However, do note that meeting a school's indicative cut-off point does not automatically guarantee admission.

Can my child be admitted to a school with a higher Cut-Off-Point (COP) than their PSLE Score? Does meeting the COP of a school guarantee my child's admission?

While the PSLE Score ranges and COP provided by the Ministry of Education (MOE) Singapore can be used as a reference for students and parents when selecting schools, it should be noted that meeting these criteria does not automatically ensure admission into a secondary school.

The score ranges displayed reflect the PSLE Scores of students who were admitted to specific schools during the previous year's S1 Posting Exercise. As a result, they may differ for the current year.

What happens if my child is unable to get into any schools listed under their six choices?

As a general rule, be sure to prioritise your preferred school by placing it at a higher rank on your list of choices. Additionally, include at least 2-3 schools where your child's PSLE Score exceeds the school's Cut-Off-Point (COP). It's important to utilise all six available school choices as this will maximise your child's likelihood of being posted to a school of your choice.

In the event that your child is not posted to any of their school choices, they'll be placed in the nearest school with available vacancies. This allocation is based on their PSLE Scores and registered home address.
