AEIS Exam Dates

AEIS 2023

The dates for the AEIS 2023 are as follows:

  • For the Primary level, the test is on Thursday, September 14, 2023.
  • For the Secondary level, the test is on Friday, September 15, 2023.

You'll find the location and what time to arrive on your child's admit card.

Remember, they need to be there by the stated time and sit at their assigned desks at least 15 minutes before the exam starts.

Make sure they bring:

  • A copy of their passport's bio-data page.
  • A copy of the entry proof given by SEAB.

AEIS 2024

The Ministry of Education, Singapore (MOE) has not released the application and exam dates for the AEIS 2024. We will update this page as soon as the dates are announced. 

AEIS Test Formats

*Important: As of 2022, the English AEIS examination will no longer be offered to students seeking admission to Singapore MOE primary schools. Instead, students are required to take the relevant Cambridge English Qualification (CEQ) test administered by Cambridge Assessment English (CAE) before applying for the AEIS-Primary Mathematics test. There is no change in format for the AEIS-Secondary tests. 

Primary 2 & 3 (Mathematics test)

The AEIS Primary 2 & 3 Mathematics test consists of two parts: Multiple-choice questions and Short-answer questions. Students will be given 25 minutes to complete Part One, and 1 hour and 20 minutes to complete Part Two.

Section Format
Part 1 Multiple-choice questions (29 items)
Part 2 Short-answer questions (17 items)

For the multiple-choice section, be sure to bring along a 2B pencil as students will be shading their answers on the Optical Answer Sheet (OAS). As for the short-answer questions section, students are required to show the method of solution clearly by writing their working steps in the spaces provided in addition to the final answers. And last but not least, do note that the use of calculators is not permitted.

Primary 4 & 5 (Mathematics test)

The AEIS Primary 4 & 5 Mathematics test consists of two parts: Multiple-choice questions, as well as Short-answer questions and open-ended questions. Students will be given 35 minutes to complete Part One, and 50 minutes to complete Part Two.

Section Format
Part 1 Multiple-choice questions (30 items)
Part 2 Short-answer questions (8 items)
Open-ended questions (6 items)

Secondary 1, 2, and 3 (English test)

The AEIS Secondary English test consists of two parts: Writing, as well as Comprehension and language use. Students will be given 2 hours 10 minutes to complete the test.

Section Format
Part 1 (Writing) Two topics are set for Sec 1, and four topics are set for Sec 2 and Sec 3.

Students choose one topic and write a composition on it.

• 200 to 300 words for Sec 1 test
• 250 to 350 words for Sec 2 test
• 300 to 400 words for Sec 3 test
Part 2 (Comprehension and language use) 50 compulsory multiple-choice questions comprising:

• Comprehension (based on two passages) - 15 items
• Comprehension cloze (based on two passages) - 15 items
• Vocabulary - 10 items
• Grammar - 10 items

Secondary 1, 2, and 3 (Mathematics test)
