Topic Recap
Numbers to 100
Count the sticks:
There are 10 sticks.
If we group them up into 1 bundle, we will have 10 sticks in one bundle.
If we count similar bundles below, we will get 100 sticks.
10 bundles \(=\) 100 sticks
Question 1:
How many sticks are there?
- 9
- 36
- 63
- 90
Solution:
Every bundle has 10 sticks. There are 60 sticks in 6 bundles. Add the 3 sticks and you will get 63 sticks altogether.
Answer:
(3) 63
Question 2:
How many sticks are there?
- Five
- Twelve
- Forty-eight
- Eighty-four
Solution:
Every bundle has 10 sticks. There are 40 sticks in 4 bundles. Add the 8 single sticks and you will get 48 sticks altogether.
Answer:

1. Counting To 1000
Group 10 of these bundles into 1 group and put them in a tray.
\(\begin{align} 1 \text{ tray} &= 10 \text{ bundles of } 10 \text{ sticks} \\[2ex] &= 100 \text{ sticks} \end{align} \)
Let’s count 10 of these trays:
\(10 \text{ trays} = 1000 \text{ sticks}\)
Example 1:
How many sticks are there below?
\(300+50+2=352\)
There are 352 sticks.
We can also write 352 as: Three hundred and fifty-two
Question 1:
How many sticks are there below?
- 73
- 138
- 738
- 783
Solution:
Number of sticks in 7 trays \(=\) 700 sticks
Number of sticks in 3 bundles \(=\) 30 sticks
Number of single sticks \(=\) 8 sticks
\(700 + 30 + 8 = 738\)
Answer:
(3) 738
Question 2:
Count the number of sticks below:
- 47
- 74
- 407
- 704
Solution:
Number of sticks in 4 trays \(=\) 400 sticks
Number of single sticks \(=\) 7 sticks
1 tray \(=\) 100 sticks
\(400 + 7 = 407\)
Answer:
(3) 407
Question 3:
How many sticks are there?
- Seven thirty
- Seven hundred and thirty
- Seven hundred and three
- Seven hundred and threety

\(700 + 30 = 730 \)
Answer:
(2) Seven hundred and thirty
