Sexual Reproduction In Humans
Sexual reproduction takes place in humans to ensure the continuity of the human species. Sexual reproduction involves two parents - the male and female parents. The male parent produces the male reproductive cells which are known as the sperm cells while the female parent produces the female reproductive cells which are known as the egg cells.
During mating (or sexual intercourse), the male parent and the female parent come together so that the reproductive cells can meet. Only one sperm is able to fertilise one egg.

Human Male Reproductive System
The human male reproductive system consists of the testes and the penis. The testis (plural: testes) is where the male reproductive cell or the sperm cell is formed. The penis is an organ that releases the sperms during mating (sexual intercourse).
Human Female Reproductive System
The human female reproductive system consists of the ovaries, the fallopian tubes, the womb (uterus) and the vagina. The ovary is where the female reproductive cells (egg cells) are formed. The ovary releases one egg every month after reaching puberty. The fallopian tube connects the ovaries to the womb (uterus). The fallopian tube is where the sperm cell and the egg cell meet during fertilisation.
The womb (uterus) is the site where the foetus develops during pregnancy. A foetus is a developing baby. The vagina (also known as the birth canal) is where the sperms are deposited during mating.
